The President’s Volunteer Service Award issued by Points of Light Institute and the Corporation for National & Community Service on behalf of the President of the United States to recognize the best in American spirit, and to encourage all Americans to improve their communities through volunteer service, and civic participation.

WDMCS Community Education is a certifying agency and will present this award to WDMCS high school students that demonstrate outstanding volunteer service and civic participation by volunteering 100 or more hours over the course of 12 months, June 1-May 31.

Students interested in earning the Presidential award must follow the WDMCS Silver Cord guidelines and submit all supporting documentation. After 100 hours of service have been completed, students should contact the Silver Cord Coordinator for additional P.V.S.A. Record of Service information.

There are three different award levels for WDMCS high school students who volunteer 100-250 hours from June 1-May 31.

  • Bronze-100-174 hours
  • Silver- 175-249 hours
  • Gold- 250 hours or more
