ASAP – After School Arts Program – Art Supply Kits
Assemble art supply kits for ASAP’s online studio classes. ASAP will provide all supplies; you put them together following instructions provided. Sign up to pick-up materials on a Friday, then arrange delivery back to ASAP within one week. Each hour of service credit must produce 15 finished kits; many hundreds of kits need to be made. Email stacie@asap-dsm.org to arrange a time to meet downtown for safe, curbside pickup of kit supplies. Pick-ups and drop off occur on Fridays 3:30-4:30 or by appointment.

Des Moines Children’s Museum – Museum Volunteer
You will help us keep the museum tidy and assist in our thorough cleaning procedures to keep everyone safe and healthy. You will also get opportunities to interact and play with children and their families. As a nonprofit we are striving to provide an affordable place for families to go and keep our costs down with your help. Volunteers are required to wear masks and are encouraged to volunteer with friends. The Des Moines Children’s Museum is located at Valley West Mall.

Clive Community Services – Laundry Pod Packet (assembled at home)
Silver Cord volunteers can earn 2 hours of Silver Cord credit for assembling laundry pod packets for our food pantry clients. Take one laundry pod, wrap in a dryer sheet, tie with a ribbon or twist tie and put in a Ziplock. Each Ziploc should have five laundry pods packets in it. Volunteers should plan to donate at least 5- 10 Ziplock bags full. Once you have made five pod packets put them in a zip-lock baggie. Deliver to Clive Community Services, 2190 NW 82nd St, Suite A. We are open for deliveries Monday 10-7, Wednesday 10-2, Friday 9-Noon. After delivery, your parent can sign off on your service. Thank you!

Courage League Sports – Sports Buddies
Courage League Sports is a non-profit adaptive sports and recreational facility that offers year-round programming for children and adults who aren’t able to go full speed due to a physical, cognitive or emotional disability. By adapting the pace, equipment, or nature of an activity, Courage League can provide a safe and accessible environment where participants can go at their own speed. Apply to Volunteer! Be a teammate: Partner up with one or two kids/adults and assist them during a game or practice Lead as a coach: Coach a competitive league in basketball, soccer, volleyball or baseball – to name a few! Be a teacher – Lead group fitness classes for kids, their families and adult participants. Examples include yoga, dance, kickboxing and much more! Other opportunities include: personal training, special event support, office assistant, carpentry and painting.

AHeinz Pet Rescue – rolling newspapers for rescued pets – papers provided!
This is perhaps one of the easiest volunteer jobs ever! Rolls of potty-training newspapers are needed for puppies in foster care. A volunteer from AHeinz57 will drop off a stack of newspapers and rubber bands for you, and pick them up when you are done. All you do is roll the papers up! There is a short video available to teach you exactly what to do.
