Are you looking for a chance to get involved with WDMCS Community Education? We are currently seeking volunteers in the following areas:
Description: Volunteer support is needed for the WDMCS Community Education adult English classes. Under the direction of the Adult English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher, volunteers support beginning learners in improving their language skills, model appropriate student response to teacher instructions, promote self-esteem and confidence, and provide feedback to ELL teacher regarding student understanding of instructions and concepts.
Description: You can make a difference in the lives of dedicated adult English language students by helping with child care during class. Two volunteers are needed each evening to assist the child care provider. You will play games, read books, and engage children in activities while their parents learn. Come have fun!
Description: Develop valuable relationships and empower families from diverse backgrounds by volunteering to teach English Skills for Parents. Lesson plans should keep the school calendar in mind and touch on important info parents need, such as parent-teacher conferences, attendance, and how to help children reinforce their learning at home. Through this class, parents practice English, build their knowledge about the US school system, and connect more confidently to their children’s education.
Description: Everyone is welcome to join Let’s Talk: ELL Conversation Partners. This program is designed for people who speak English but would like to practice speaking and listening. Native English speaker volunteers are invited to join us for conversation and friendship! Partners meet for about one hour and are led by a facilitator. The program is informal, fun, and free! No experience necessary.
Description: Share your Spanish language skills and cultural knowledge with teachers in your community! Through this class, teachers will learn Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills that will help them better serve their students’ diverse learning needs. Conversation partners are needed to help Spanish Language and Culture participants practice their new skills through guided conversation.
