WDMCS Community Education is an outreach department of the West Des Moines Community School District. We provide opportunities for learning, service, and fun to people of all ages. We offer a variety of programs and services to the WDMCS district. Below is a overview of the opportunities that we offer.
Kids West provides safe, affordable, and convenient before-and-after school care for students in grades K-6.
Adventures offers fun and interesting learning opportunities for K-8 students after school and on weekends.
LEARNwest offers a wide range of classes for adults who want to expand their skills or try something new.
ParentQuest provides a wide variety of opportunities for parents and other caring adults as they navigate each child’s unique path to success in school and life.
Summer of Learning offers fun and enriching educational experiences during the summer months for students in grades K-8.
Community Education Advisory Council (CEAC) is a group of citizens who identify community needs and find ways to meet those needs.
Preschool Palooza is an annual event for children ages two to six that enjoy fun and educational activities while their grown-ups gather information about early childhood opportunities.
Facility Use offers a variety of spaces that are accessible to community members who are in search of a convenient and affordable location for their activity or event.
Person Care Drive where WDMCS students and staff participate in a one week-long collection of personal care items for those in need.
I-CARE provides opportunities for junior high students to volunteer during their study hall.
Read To Me facilitates intergenerational learning between third graders and residents of local retirement communities.
Silver Cord is a graduation award available to West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) seniors who volunteer each year of high school starting in 9th grade.
