In accordance with state and federal guidelines, WDMCS Community Education is implementing the following practices in our programs to protect the health and safety of the students and staff.

Please read these health and safety guidelines carefully. We must all work together to follow them, to make sure our families and students stay healthy! Please talk to your children about these guidelines as they get ready to attend WDMCS Community Education programs.

Health Screenings

All program staff and participants will be screened daily using the following process:

  • Temperatures will be taken upon arrival with a touchless thermometer. If a participant or staff member has a temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher for any reason, they cannot be allowed into the program. Participants will not be allowed back into the program until they are fever free for at least 72 hours.
  • Staff and participants must answer the following questions daily:
    1. Do you have a new cough or sore throat that is not due to another health condition?
    2. Do you have shortness of breath that is not due to another health condition?
    3. Have you recently lost your sense of taste or smell?
    4. Do you live with someone who has symptoms of COVID-19 or has tested positive for COVID-19?

You may not be allowed into the program if the answer to any of these questions is “Yes.”

In the event of illness, participants and staff must stay home until:

  1. You are fever free for at least 72 hours (without the use of fever reducing medications),
  2. AND symptoms have improved,
  3. AND at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.

Health & Hygiene Practices

Hygiene

  • Program staff will practice and teach healthy hygiene practices to reduce the spread of germs, including:
    • Handwashing for 20 seconds
    • Covering coughs and sneezes with elbow 
  • Please reinforce these practices with your children at home.

Face Masks

  • All program instructors will be strongly encouraged to wear face masks.
  • Face masks are also encouraged, but not required, for participants.
  • Children must bring their own face mask. Please ask program staff if you need help getting a face mask.

Cleaning

  • High-touch surfaces and equipment will be cleaned frequently.
  • Sharing of supplies and equipment will be limited as much as possible.

Groups

  • Size limited to 10-15 children.
  • Children will stay in the same group with the same staff as much as possible. 

Social Distancing

  • We will make every attempt to maintain social distance between participants during programming.  
  • Please reinforce the importance of social distancing with your children at home. 

Limit Items from Home

To help decrease the potential of sharing germs via personal items, we ask that students participating in programs limit what they bring from home.

  • Sunscreen 
  • Sack lunch, if your student is participating in Kids West and you choose not to buy lunch on-site. Refrigeration is not available.
  • Chromebooks 
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Please do not bring anything else from home unless asked to do so.

Exclusion Policies

Kids West Exclusion Policies

Staff and participants will be excluded from the program for 14 days if:

  • You have traveled internationally.
  • You live with someone who has symptoms of, or has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  • You have had direct contact (within 6 feet for 15 consecutive minutes) with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  • If any participant or staff assigned to your child’s group tests positive for COVID-19, the entire group and staff will be excluded from the program.

You will be refunded if your child is excluded. (Partial if a partial week, full for a full week).

Exclusion Policies for Classes

Staff and participants will be excluded from the program if: 

  • You have travelled internationally.
  • You live with someone who has symptoms of, or has tested positive for COVID-19.
  • You have had direct contact (within 6 feet for 15 consecutive minutes) with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
  • If any participant or staff assigned to your child’s group tests positive for COVID-19, the entire group and staff will be excluded from the program.

You will be refunded if your child is excluded from a class. Exclusion and refunds for any following classes (if applicable) will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Communication

If any participant or staff is excluded for a program due to COVID-19, all parents will be notified via email on the same day we are made aware of the exposure. No names of participants or staff will be shared.

Self Reporting

You must report any positive tests or exposure to COVID-19 directly to the program supervisor.

Required Forms

For the foreseeable future, participants in WDMCS Community Education programs will be required to fill out the Informed Consent Agreement for Participation in Community Education Programs.

  • If your student is participating in Kids West, you will receive the form directly from the Kids West program. If you have more than one child, please put all your children on one form. 
  • If your student is participating in classes, filling out the form will be included as part of the registration process.
