WEST DES MOINES, IOWA – WDMCS Community Education is offering a show choir camp for both beginner and experienced students entering grades six, seven, and eight. The beginners’ camp is designed to be a first-time show choir experience and will be appropriate for any student entering sixth or seventh grade.
Over a one-week period, students will learn a three-song set with appropriate choreography to match. The singing aspect of the camp will focus on singing in unison and two part harmonies, as well as proper vocal technique. The choreography will focus on learning large-group choreography and executing it, while singing at the same time. Participants will present a free concert to family and friends on the final day of camp, Friday, June 21.
The experienced show choir camp is designed for students entering grades seven and eight who have had some experience singing in an organized chorus, with no dance experience required. The choreography will focus on learning both large and small group choreography, and executing it, while singing at the same time.
