Science Exploration

For students entering grades 1-7

Explore a variety of stimulating science subjects! You have the option of signing your child up for one of the morning sessions, one of the afternoon sessions, or both! If your child is staying for the whole day, there will be lunch and recess between the two sessions. *FOOD IS NOT PROVIDED, so please have your child bring a sack lunch. If weather permits, recess will be outside, so please put sunscreen on your child before the program.

Solar System Quest
Explore the solar system and all that you’ll find in it! There are so many stars, planets, moons, comets, and meteoroids to discover and we’ll do fun activities to learn more about them. Session taught by Natalie Young. Register Online

Amazing Human Body
How does your body work? How many bones do you have? Get ready for a week full of activities about the human body! This course will teach the bones, muscles, and joints of the body, and how to keep your body healthy. Let’s learn what makes you tick! Session taught by Amy Drake. Register Online

Morning – Grades 4-7

It’s All About Energy
Dig deeper into the world of energy – explore how it’s transferred and also converted. Create exciting projects to demonstrate this by using the PLTW Vex Kits. Stretch your thinking with opportunities to ask, explore, model, evaluate, and explain your thinking. Register Online

Science Mystery: Can YOU Solve the Mystery?
Throughout the week, students will set out to solve a number of mysteries. While solving these mysteries, students will be going through many crime-lab procedures including thread tests, powder tests, DNA comparison, chromatography, and fingerprinting. Session taught by Brianna Konz. Register Online

Afternoon – Grades 1-3

Weather Wonders
We’ll study what makes weather wet and wild, do cool activities and games, and become hot at forecasting weather! Session taught by Amy Drake. Register Online

Incredible Insects
Insects are everywhere and make a difference in our world. Learn about what they do and how to identify them with activities that will get you out and explore! Session taught by Natalie Young. Register Online

Afternoon – Grades 4-7

A Galaxy Far Away
Do you wonder what planets are made of? Have you ever thought about the galaxy and what it embodies? Students will explore planets and the galaxy around us! Students will learn about the solar system and even create their own planet! Session taught by Brianna Konz. Register Online

Join us for a week of science fun while we explore, create, conduct, and build using the components of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)! Learn about a different science theme each day with lots of activities to stretch your mind when you ask, explore, model, evaluate, and explain your thinking. Register Online

Need child care before and/or after the program? Kids West provides a variety of fun activities and breakfast/snack both before and after the sessions. Register for the full week or just a few times.

Mornings – 6:45-9 a.m.
