Registration Information

Registration opens on March 15. Procedures vary by program, so please read each program’s instructions carefully, and call 515-633-5001 with any questions. Registrations are taken on a first come, first served basis.s.

Preregistration & Prepayment Required

Please complete a separate registration form for each child. Family or group registrations are NOT accepted on the same form.

Grade Level

Enroll your child based on the grade level he or she will be entering fall 2018.

Registration Forms

Use the combinedregistration form for all programs except instrumental music private lessons and safety town volunteering. Please see each program for specific registration information.

How To Register

  1. Online Registration
  2. Drop off your completed registration form at WDMCS Community Education in the Learning Resource Center from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, or place the form and payment in the WDMCS Community Education drop box located on the west end of the Learning Resource Center. DO NOT put cash in the drop box.
  3. Mail your completed registration form with payment for all programs except Safety Town volunteering and private lessons to: WDMCS Community Education, c/o Summer of Learning, 3550 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50265-5556.
  4. Phone in your registration with your credit card number to 515-633-5001 Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 pm.

Payment Options

Personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards are accepted. Cash is only accepted at the WDMCS Community Education office Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 pm.

Scholarships

Scholarships, based on financial need, are available to assist WDMCS students tuition for most programs. Students may only receive a scholarship for one program each summer, and priority is given to those taking academic refresher courses. Students must live within the WDMCS district boundaries. Registration Deadlines

For many programs, a $25 late registration fee will be charged if you register less than one week before the program’s start date. Programs with registration deadlines are Art Adventures, Baking Academy, Be the Boss, Butter Sculpting Plus, Jump Start, Preschool Creations, SAIL, and Science Exploration.

Cancellations/Refunds

A $25 fee is deducted from all refunds, except programs cancelled by WDMCS Community Education. Refund requests must be made before the second day of the program.

Photo Release

If you prefer that your child is NOT photographed during summer programs, check the appropriate box on the registration form. These photographs may be used in WDMCS Community Education and WDMCS publications, social media platforms, and the website, as well as in the local media and newspapers.
