Instrumental Music Programs

Band Bash – For students entering grades 6-12

Rehearsal Band – This two-week program, made up of students entering grades 6-8, meets for one hour each day and gives instrumental music students the opportunity to develop their rhythmic skills, strengthen their tone and playing technique, and polish their music reading skills in preparation for the school year. A concert will be held June 21 at 12:15 p.m. in the Indian Hills Auditorium. On the final day, June 22, students will visit  Adventureland and enjoy the park.

Private Band Lessons – Over a four or six-week period, students will have a weekly 30-minute private lesson. The goal of private lessons is to help students grow in their skills and prepare for more advanced study. Lessons taught by Jon Lewis. Please Note: For private band lessons you may not mail in a registration form. You need to register online or in person.

Summer Strings – For students entering grades 5-9

Orchestra – Students participate in orchestra rehearsals, musicianship classes (including ear training and theory), and sectional rehearsals. This is an intensive study of orchestra music and listening skills, culminating with a concert on June 21 and then a trip to Adventureland on June 22. Program taught by Matt Meyer, Curtis Barr, Abby Meyer, Anne-Marie Webster, and Jeanne Caldwell.

Trumpet Adventures – For students entering grades 6-8

Trumpet Adventures – Join fellow trumpet players in this exciting workshop geared specifically for you! Led by Tony Garmoe, you’ll explore a mix of fun, traditional and non-traditional methods to improve breathing, air flow, relaxation, tone, flexibility, strength, range, endurance, and much more. Using unconventional teaching devices such as small spinning fans, no-bell trumpets, and rubber tubing, you’ll gain expertise and improve your trumpet playing skills. This class will also use recorded media to introduce students to outstanding professional trumpet players from a variety of genres to widen their exposure and appreciation.
